Interview w/ Murph!

In the next week or so I'm going to be conducting an exclusive interview with Steve Murphy of Tales and TMNT Adventures fame.I've asked him if it would be ok to have the fans ask him a few questions so think of something good and please only one or 2 questions each.
Perhaps he can shed some light on some of the current TMNT issues going on.
Thanks!

Well, I don't really have any good questions, altho I'm concerned about NECA toyline and Forever War comic, I hope those won't be canceled.

But where's this picture from, and who's made it? I haven't seen it before...

You could always ask what sort of things we will see in the Forever War, or what he plans to do.
I've Spoken to Murph about NECA and he has no idea either, it's annoying.
The image is from one of his other comics Puma Blues, and is done by the wonderful Michael Zulli.

-->> ..gonna watch from the sidelines for now .

See what questions are asked, and the interview approaches . Maybe i'll toss a question in there.

I've grown so weary of the past few weeks.. and i'm hoping will ask questions and ask for insight than the same old jungle drums i've been hearing.

Let's wee what's on peoples' mind.

Ask if Murph has any reaction to the toon getting canceled.

Also, what is Murph's take on the implosion of the franchise (cartoon canceled, toy line creatively dead and so forth)? Is there any hope for us hardcore Turtle fans?

-->> **Item posted in my ROUND UP ..

don't over estimate or underestimate this .. just hope it brings some traffic to this post.

Mike get's a shit load and waves of traffic that just so weird .. i'll repost this later in the day, if you wish.

Also i'll pose a question later in the day if that's cool.

I actually have question for you who make custom figures. What kind of tools do you use for cutting? If I wanted to cut figures arm off and redo it. Oh, and what's the best option for sculpting that new part of it? Magic sculpt or something?

~ tOkKa said...

-->> Magic Sculp kicks 'a55 ' ..like Fimo too, but Sculpy is the most readily available, affordable, i'm also the most used to it.

Question it's durability , Top .. Vaughn i nknow used it on some of his stuff.

It worked ok on the Don Wrestling Custom and the Tokka Mighty Mugg.

It's not the most flexible of clays to me it seems tho'.

Tokka, I'm plannin to try sculpting first at a cheap neca mikey I got, maybe doing him a overhead bandana, and turning him archie style.

Later on I'm plannin to use a street shark figure to another project, in that I need to cut his arms a bit, and sculpt more...

-->> ..killer, i'll wait for Vaughn Chime in .. on this too. He's got some suprizes with his cutsoms. He'll have allot of tips for you i 'm sure.

I think it's also about experimenting with different materials, clays, and effects to achieve what your looking for.

Most people seem to go for ' comic or toon ' accuracy. Like i wanted specific to match the Eastman/ Laird concept art precise as i could for the Donatello .. the Mario Bros. Spiney , and the Tokka Mugg i made are much more conceptual .. and i wanted to match more my own illustrative style ..particularly for the Tokka.

The Spiney was especially tricky, cuz he's a remote control item and moves all crazy and bumps into things so he's been dinged a little bit, the Sculpy may not have been the best for him. However.. while Sculpy isn't super durable, it is somewhat forgiving and repairable.

If you are just doing these things for display and your own personal use, you 'll prolly be ok .. i really look forward to seeing what you create !!

Yep, doin them just for myself, to match with other figs, and tryin customing. I've sculpted clay before, so I hope these turn out okay

" Initial inception of TMNT came from a rather 'underground' comics movement before the "BIG BANG" of TMNT and all that.

Beyond 'fandom' but possibly in tune and inspired by such ::

..seems barely anything is made mention to a return to some of these roots within' the realm of an independent and Underground art movement with a definitive motif of TMNT and related as it's base.

Thoughts and advice on artists trapped within' this underground & the cracks and grays of the comic industry , fine arts , design , written word ect. ??

**

Is their any hope left in your eyes for anything ??

Any at all .. what are they ( if ) there is hope ??

Oh well, this is off-topic, and a lot of it, but thought I'd put a link here, since tokka was interested in this. It's only wip, but coming up nicely.

I've got another one (the other question's on The Drome, and I figured I'd ask here since I'm here now):

Are there still plans to release the Ch'rell figure that was shown on your blog a short while back?
